03.19.04 - Do I ever cross your mind, anytime? Do you ever wake up reaching out for me...

:: Saturday, December 27, 2003 ::
Wow, this has certainly turned out to be quite a crappy holiday, to no fault of anyone except myself...which is probably the worst part about it. Can't even find a decent scapegoat!

I have, quite possibly, the worst cold I've had in years. Practically the entire day of Christmas was either spent in bed, or in a bed-like place like the Laz-ee-Boy in the basement of my grandmother's house. At least I stayed awake long enough to catch World Idol - which, if I might add, kind of sucked, minus a few okay singers, but it was definitely way too long for its own good.

My gifts were quite decent. My uncle and his girlfriend just came back from Italy around two days ago...and they bought everyone wicked souvenirs. No offense to my uncle, but he's one of those self-righteous anti-consumption, anti-everything kind of guys so it was nice to get something that was name brand and well, at the risk of sounding extremely "girly", pretty.

Yesterday was Canada's Boxing Day, as most people are fully aware of; and I spent my day at Best Buy, working (not shopping. I left my house around 7 AM, and got home nearing 9 PM. So when I left it was dark, when I got home, it was dark...it was definitely bizarre to say the least. When I got there around 7:45-ish, there was this huge line winding around the store past the truck bays, past the install bays...I mean, people, people....just to let you all in on the inside, the sales weren't that great at all. I mean, in my department, the prices were actually better before Christmas, and yet, we were handing them out like hotcakes.

At least management bought us all food. We had loads and loads of Krispy Kreme donuts...I had two myself, and would have enjoyed more had I not still been feeling sick. I wasn't as bad as Christmas, but I still had the nasty stuffed nosed and chest congestion going on. I was sitting in the hub (the break room) sort of sulking, and Steve (the Ross/Ed look-a-like who's kind of a cutie but is way too old for me ;)) was like, "Are you sick?" Of course, I confirmed that yes, I was sick, and that I had a 12 hour shift...and that the next day (today) I had a 9 hr shift. Later (about 4-5 hours later), we were both in the warehouse, when he said to me, "Kill me. Please, do it now." ...so we mutually agreed to kill eachother to save ourselves the immense torture that is Boxing Day at Best Buy.

Apparently, my shift yesterday was from 8AM-9PM...no wonder the time clock wouldn't let me punch out...I could have sworn I had a 12 hour shift; unless my supervisor changed the schedule midweek....So I don't know if she's going to say anything about that. It doesn't matter anyway, I'm getting laid off soon, and if I apply again next year, I'm doing either media or operations...nothing where PSP sales are needed!!!

I have to work again tomorrow from 10-7, then Monday from 2:30-11. My feet hurt like they've never hurt before...I swear, they feel as if they're going to fall off any moment now. But alas, after Monday...the pain will be over and I can live my life again.
